NABERS Program Considers Increasing NABEERS Ratings

Commercial office buildings will soon exceed the current NABERS rating scale, therefore the NABERS program has opened up discussions upon increasing the rating scale beyond 5 stars.Currently industry is being consulted upon increasing the rating scale to six or even seven stars. This is great news, as it indicates that buildings are exceeding the current NABERS rating benchmark set to rate office buildings.10 Years ago when the program was established, a goal of 5 stars was completely reasonable. With the advent of new technology and increased architectural design and building materials, commercial office buildings are meeting the energy efficiency challenge and going beyond the measurable 5 stars in performance. The NABERS rating program has been in operation for 10 years and is recognised as the industry standard and a world l work from home eading program for rating commercial office buildings, thus meeting the requirements of new buildings and the development of technologies will eventually require the upgrading of the star rating system. The timing of the introduction of a sixth star is proposed to take place in early 2011 with a seventh star as an option in early 2011 or an increase in future when required. There are currently a limited number of buildings that would exceed 5 stars and none that would achieve seven. If seven stars were introduced, this could affect the commendable results achieved by buildings in the 4-5 star range. Although only having to make the one change will be much easier on the industry and will uphold the credentials of the NABERS rating program.Learn more NABERS rating programGreen PassEmail: info@greenpass.com.auWeb: www.greenpass.com.
